Social media (especially TikTok) is a great tool for finding trends, but they come and go very quickly, which is why they’re called “trends.” I rely on other sources of information, such as what I hear from skin care research institutes, trusted chemists, and all the conferences I’ve attended over the past year where the best skin care experts gather to share information. I prefer
Based on what I’ve seen so far, here are six skin care trends that I expect to be big in 2025. There are some new innovations, but everything always goes back to basics. Balances the skin, making it healthy and nourished.
Skin Care Trend #1: Home Skin Care Devices
Gone are the days when only estheticians like me could provide professional results. So much technology is now available in the home, and I think that’s really exciting. After all, I see my clients for 90 minutes and I accomplish a lot, but being able to recommend home care devices to maintain results only enhances my clients’ skin care goals.
Of course, there are a lot of questionable home skin care devices out there, so you should do your research. highly recommended TheraFace depuffing wand. I’ve been using a device similar to this at a client for years and was shocked when they discontinued it. So I was very happy to see this come onto the market. I love it for removing puffiness along with a facial lymph drainage massage. (quick response detox mask When applied before using the device, it provides excellent glide. )
TheraFace was mentioned in the following article this video I posted it on Instagram as one of the devices my client, a singer, uses sabrina carpenterand the video went viral! (I also mentioned the radiofrequency device I use, which is tried and true and always works to get breakouts to heal faster.)
I’m also a big fan new faceknown as microcurrent. It is used to build facial features, such as toning muscles and making cheekbones more prominent. As I mentioned in this post, I have been using NuFace for years and use similar technology on my body during my workouts. Simply put, your muscles get weaker with age, so it’s important to strengthen them. I love using it in my night routine.
Skincare Trend #2: Electrolytes – The ultimate hydration for thirsty skin cells
I love the concept of leveraging what’s used internally externally. And by 2025, electrolytes in the skin will be large.
Let’s talk about hydration. The reality is that all skin types need moisture, but not all skin types need oil. This is the difference between dry skin and dehydrated skin. Skin cells are like fish, they need water to live, so in 2025 there will be an even bigger focus on getting the much-needed moisture to look healthy and, of course, maintain super-moisturized skin. There will be a greater focus on innovation in skin care ingredients for retention in the skin.
The main skin care ingredient coming in 2025 is electrolytes. Contains essential minerals such as sodium, calcium, and potassium. It has always been the mainstay of sports drinks, but now it has emerged as a popular product.
The main benefit of using electrolytes in skin care is hydration. Water is good for your skin, but dry skin (which tends to get worse with age) has a hard time retaining moisture. Without enough oil to lock in moisture, the moisture from serums and moisturizers evaporates quickly. Electrolytes use their electrical charge to draw water into deeper skin layers and prevent it from evaporating. It also balances the water content, keeping your skin plump and fresh without putting too much stress on it.
I’ve been working on a skincare regimen that includes electrolytes and have had really great results in terms of delivering water to thirsty skin cells. stay tuned!
Skincare Trend #3: A simpler, multitasking skincare routine
Skincare is a huge industry and shows no signs of slowing down, but I have to say that 10-step routines are getting a little out of control. For example, layering multiple serums is not only time-consuming and costly, but it’s also not very effective.
In reality, I believe you should use one serum at a time, as your skin can only absorb so much. Moreover, this approach not only saves time and money, but also reduces the risk of irritation due to overloading the skin with too many active ingredients.
We see that people are looking for simpler routines that use just a few products because they’re fed up with the idea of having to use too many products. The good news is that so many products can multitask.
For example, why use sunscreen and moisturizer separately? Why not find one that does both? my Waitress Protection SPF 30 It does just that. Or how about a mask that helps you sleep overnight? Yes, this is my winning work rest day mask.
The four-step morning and evening routine includes:
- Wash with a gentle detergent (always follow my golden minute rule)
- Next, use toner (here are 5 benefits of toner)
- Serum (you can alternate serums with either vitamin C during the day, retinol at night, a leave-in acid exfoliant, or something to hydrate and nourish)
- Moisturizer (always use sunscreen during the day and choose the best moisturizer for your skin at night) your skin type)
Example: Easy morning action plan for skin type 7
Additionally, you can perform an at-home facial by using a lightweight eye gel or nourishing cream morning and night each week.
These steps are proven and will ensure the health and integrity of your skin. Quality over quantity. everytime.
Skincare Trend #4: Exosomes – A biotech skincare ingredient
At the Science of Skincare Summit (a dermatology conference that I co-chaired), there was a lot of talk about the term “biotech ingredients” and how they will play an important role in the future of skin care. Specifically, there was a lot of talk about exosomes for skin care treatments.
Exosomes are derived from stem cells, the most common sources being adipose stem cells and umbilical cord stem cells, but there are other types as well. These are microscopic vesicles that are naturally produced by cells and act as messengers that facilitate cell communication and reproduction. Their purpose is to promote skin health by harnessing the body’s own cellular processes, allowing the skin to rejuvenate and repair itself.
Cosmetic procedures such as radiofrequency microneedling and laser treatments are very popular for stimulating cell repair (by intentionally damaging the outer layer of the skin), so exosomes can be applied locally after these procedures. It is thought that it may be able to support the repair process when applied to Intensify your treatment to improve results and reduce any redness and swelling that may occur.
Scientific advances will continue to be made to find ways to keep skin looking younger for longer.
Skincare Trend #5: Add some fun to your skincare routine
Who said skin care had to be so serious? TikTok’s skincare trends continue to show that people love having fun with their skincare routines and love filming content about it. (Yes, that’s where all those 10-step routines come in.) Especially with the rise of home skin care devices (LEDs are a big one), people are using devices in conjunction with masks, serums, and oils to Give your skin the ultimate self-care treatment at home.
One way to play around (without worrying about damaging your skin) is toner ice cubes. There is no rule that says toner must be used in liquid form. Why not freeze your lotion for additional skin benefits like reducing puffiness? moisture infusion toner Perfect for this.
Read how to make toner ice cubes at home.
Skincare Trend #6: Turn your passion for skincare into a career – become an esthetician!
The rise of the esthetician. Yes, it’s happening on a large scale. in fact, allure Estheticians are being called the new “IT” profession. ”When I started in 1988, there were only a few members. Fast forward to 2025, and more people than ever are turning their passion into a career. As the saying goes, “Find something you’re passionate about and find a way to make a living doing it.”
We’ve seen our profession brought to the forefront and skin care enthusiasts expanding into all areas of skin care, including becoming sales trainers, dermatologist practice supports, instructors, and of course having their own private practices. I really love watching it. We love improving lives through skin care and it’s truly incredible to see how many people are pursuing this wonderful profession.
