3 Things Beauty Lovers Do

1. They enjoy making big purchases.

I almost danced my way out of Ulta yesterday because I paid $5.97 for an $83 Murad Serum!

A little backstory: Ulta currently has Amazing 21 Days of Beauty Sale. Every day for 21 days, a variety of items will be on sale at half price.

One of yesterday’s products was Murad Environmental Shield Rapid Dark Spot Correction Seruma serum containing glycolic acid and tranexamic acid to lighten pigmentation that I’ve always wanted to try.

A 1 oz bottle normally costs $83 (!), but yesterday it was on sale for 50% off, so I got it for the great price of $41.50.

But guess what? With Ulta points, he cashed out $36 and got an even bigger deal.

In the end, I only paid $5.50 for the bottle, plus 47 cents in tax.

Heck, I’m still so happy that I’m dancing on my chair as I type this (lol)!

2. They find like-minded beauty enthusiasts in unexpected places.

So I had a few doctor’s appointments this week to check a few things, and you know me. I try very hard to be strong and tough on the outside, but on the inside I’m emotionally limp and cry when my hat falls.

Anyway, when I was having some tests at my gynecologist on Monday, I started crying when the doctor said, “Come on, if you cry, your beautiful makeup will be ruined.” – Nervous With tears in my eyes, I purred as usual.

I felt completely seen and laughed! That morning, I intentionally applied a smooth cat eyeliner and some cool-toned shadows on my lids. I thought that if I wore good eye makeup, I wouldn’t have any tears.

When I mentioned this to my doctor, she started laughing and said it was something she would do too. It lightened the mood quite a bit and we both had a good laugh.

3. You can talk about makeup even when the going gets weird.

Speaking of makeup bringing people together, in the same conversation I happened to be wearing a hospital gown and nothing else. Needless to say, I felt a little vulnerable.

But when my doctor told me she wanted to try Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty line, my nurse and I jumped right in and told her it was really good and what she should buy.

Interestingly, talking about beauty can sometimes make even the most awkward moments just a little bit more bearable.
