When it comes to the “glass skin” trends, online experts promote intensive hydration to give them a plump, exposed look, but I’m here. You can’t hydrate the way to achieve glass skin. As a professional esthetician for 35 years, I share the way with you Really Get smooth glass skin as you absolutely love.
What is “glass skin”?
Glass skin is a term that refers to extremely smooth, clear, radiant skin, reflecting light. It resembles a piece of glass. It is defined as deep hydrated, plump, and shining skin with a perfect finish without pores. It sounds incredible, doesn’t it? Let’s touch everything on the glass skin.
Four essentials to achieve glass skin
-
- Smooth texture of the glass (no bumps or scratches with minimal pores)
- Minimal discoloration toned evenly
- Shine/Circulation (naturally healthy glow from within)
- Moisture/hydration (skin, plump skin)

Let’s touch the texture
Clogged pores
Clogged pores (known as “closed comedons”) appear as white bumps in the skin. When you think of glass skin, the first thing that comes to mind is a smooth texture that is not bumpy. Clogged pores are not as round as Milia (referred to below), but if left untreated, they tend to hang out for a long time.
Causes of clogged pores:
Oily skin, wrong product for skin type, pore-clogged makeup (I’m looking at you, cream blush and highlighter!), heavy sunscreen
Rene’s expert advice:
You will receive a manual extraction from the aesthetician. This clogged pores won’t disappear yourself. Once you’ve put them away, the goal is to keep them clearly in the acid stripper on your next holiday.
Product Recommendations:
BHA clarified serum
Pore + Wrinkle Perfect Serum
Milia
Milia is hard, with small bumps in the skin that appear when keratin and hardened oils are trapped under the surface of the skin. Milia are round and sometimes referred to as small “pearls” because of their appearance. The cured oil gives them an off-white colour, and they most commonly appear around the eyes, nose and cheeks.
Causes of Milia:
Hyperangiopathy, severe eye cream, smoking
Rene’s expert advice:
You will receive a manual extraction from the aesthetician. Like a closed comedon, these magically do not disappear. Find an esthetician, an extraction skill for removal. Dermatologists can also remove Milia.
Product Recommendations:
Overnight eye serum
Touch scars and enlarged pores
scratch
The wound can be in the form of a whitehead, pustules, or cyst. Acne can be very complicated, but there are ways to prevent scratches from forming and knowing what to do to achieve glass skin.
Causes of wounds:
Hormones, incorrect products, dairy products, many unknown and unlucky cases.
Rene’s expert advice:
Look at experienced skincare professionals who can help guide you into an action plan to give you results.
Product Recommendations:
Anti-Bump Solution
AHA/BHA Blemish Control Cleanser
Enlarged pores
Hyperpores are pores that have been physically grown due to excessive oil production or loss of collagen. You can restore these to their original size. Otherwise, if the pores are not enlarged, their size is genetically determined. In other words, it is impossible to make them smaller than what they were intended. In this case, you can only minimize the appearance, not the actual size.
Causes of enlarged pores:
Excessive oil production, hormones, age
Rene’s expert advice:
Physical and chemical exfoliation and regular use of retinol/retinoids
Product Recommendations:
Pore + Wrinkle Perfect Serum
Let’s get in touch with the growth of the skin
Skin growth
Skin growth is the swelling of the face, neck and body. They are usually benign (unusual) and often start as small flat or rough bumps. It is very important for them to keep an eye on new and changing things. Always schedule a regular skin check with your dermatologist. Always check out if you are in doubt.
Initially, these growths can be mistaken for pores and breakout clogs, but they cannot be extracted because they are not oily. Treating them with harsh, breakout-focused products leads to only dry, irritating skin.
Causes of skin growth:
UV damage, age, genetics, hormones, oily skin
Rene’s expert advice:
For skin checks and removal, look at dermatologists (some aestheticians also have devices to help with removal).
Product Recommendations:
Advanced resurfacing serum (retinol), prescription retinoids
Let’s touch the discoloration
discoloration
Discoloration is the overproduction of a pigment called melanin. Genetics, sunlight exposure, hormones and skin damage are the most common causes. When the Melanin Factory is turned on, it can be difficult to calm the noisy pigment cells. This is why it’s so frustrating, as it can take a few months for them to disappear. Especially the deeper skin tone of your skin.
Causes of discoloration:
Sun exposure, fever, wounds, pregnancy, aging, genetics
Rene’s expert advice:
Add an additional protective layer with foundation makeup using fade/brighton, physical and chemical peel, SPF (during all daytime hours of the year!)
Product Recommendations:
Vitamin C+E Treatment
Zero Gravity Protection SPF 30
Let’s get into circulation
Lack of circulation
How to determine whether the skin is not circulating:
Once your skin is makeup free, take your thumb and index finger and gently pull the apple from your cheek. Use light pressure to pinch your skin five times quickly.
If your skin turns slightly pink, there may be proper circulation.
If your skin doesn’t turn pink, it’s probably Lack of circulationand you’ll want to boost circulation. If your skin turns red, you may have skin Overcycleand you’ll want to calm it down with a (not rejuvenating) product that soothes it.
Basically, to get the radiant skin you want, the goal is for your circulation to be in the middle.
Causes of non-circulating skin:
Slow blood circulation, genetics, smoking, drug use
Rene’s expert advice:
Bow your head, massage your face, exercise, use of stimulating ingredients, and restore skin barriers
Product Recommendations:
Mint Renewal Cleanser
Get in touch with moisture, hydration and light reflection
Moisture loss
Causes of skin moisture loss:
Dryness (lack of oil), dehydration (lack of water), accumulated dead skin, weather, local prescription
Rene’s expert advice:
“Golden Minute Rules”, water infusion sealed with gentle cleanser, barrier repair mask, cream and lotion
Product Recommendations:
Moisture injected toner
