In an age where social media curates perfection, Ask Ashley It stands out as the breath of fresh, unfiltered air. Hosted by best friends Ashley North and Ashley Weatherspoon, this podcast is more than just a girl’s story. It’s a space where deep conversations meet in moments of laughter, tough love is offered along with the humor aspect, and listeners feel like they’re kicking at their best. From building a 6-figure podcast to balancing career, friendship and self-care, these powerful women are proving success and sisters holding hands. They’re still preparing for the most exciting season, so they’re sitting down to talk about life, business, and their superpowers that keep it real.

Balancing deep conversation and fun

HH: Your podcast is to keep it real. How do you navigate deep, sometimes uncomfortable conversations, while keeping things light and fun for your listeners?

Ask Ashley: We’re still thinking about that balance! Our podcasts are really weekly check-in so sometimes we need to go a little far and cut things out (as not everything needs to live on the internet forever). But our rules are simple. Please talk first and edit later. We would rather become our most unfiltered, authentic self and address the consequences later.

Interestingly, a conversation you may find “unpleasant” with others is that you don’t feel that way when you’re talking to your best friend. That’s your safe space. Our listeners can feel the trust we have in each other. It’s a way to leave room for honesty, tough love and highly selective listening when needed. One day, we give sincere advice. Other days, we just roast ourselves. Either way, it’s always authentic.

Juggling carrier, podcasting, friendship

HH: You both have incredible careers outside of podcasts. As a celebrity stylist and creative director, Ashley North and Ashley Weatherspoon are authors and entrepreneurs. How do you juggle it all while staying true to yourself?

Ask Ashley: The biggest part about having a real best friend is that it incorporates hype women. We really believe in each other and that makes all the difference. We don’t just hold each other accountable in our podcast business. We also support each other in our personal careers.

If Ashley N wants to pitch a new client, Ashley W has already created a deck. If Ashley W has a speaking gig, Ashley N is the first to hear a run-through (of course, providing cruelly honest feedback). When we thrive individually, our collective success becomes even greater. So, do you juggle it all? It’s easier for a crime partner to get it. We are women on the wings of each other’s career, sanity checks, and sometimes “girls, take a nap” reminder.

Beauty, self-care, confidence

HH: Beauty and self-care are a big part of confidence and credibility. How has your personal beauty and hair journey evolved, and are there any go-to tips for busy women?

Ask Ashley: Ashley W is a great believer in making time for hair salons. There are no excuses. Growing up, her mom takes her with her every two weeks, and she maintains the same daily life as an adult. For her, it’s more than just hair maintenance, it’s a biweekly therapy session.

Working mom Ashley N wants her to have a secret beauty hack, but what’s the truth? Install it as much as possible. One thing she learned is turning the bathroom into a sanctuary. From acne treatment at drugstores to discovering ticut skin care, her bathroom shelves are stacked. As the kids are asleep, she lights candles, turns on music, and turns the space into a mini spa. Self-care is not always about finding extra time. It’s about making the most of the small moments you have.

Turn your passion into a thriving business

HH: You invested $30,000 in your dreams, and now Ask Ashley It’s a 6-digit podcast! What advice would you give to women who want to turn their passion into business?

Ask Ashley: Everything in life requires investment. Want to lose weight? You have to spend time in the kitchen and gym. Want to develop skills? Study materials and resources are time-consuming and costly. It’s the same with starting a business.

When it’s started Ask Ashleywe asked, looking closely at our finances, Where can I reduce it? Instead of Uber Eats, Nights Out and Impulse Buys, we started redirecting money to our dreams. We started small. I recorded a cheap microphone with zoom. But when we fell in love with this process, we reinvested in our studios, proper recording equipment, and podcast hosting.

Our biggest advice? Choose profitability over popularity. It’s cute to go viral, but making real money from your passion is even better.

Maintain friendship across time zones

HH: Friendship is the main theme of your podcast. What are the biggest lessons you learned about being nearby while living on the opposite coast?

Ask Ashley: The most difficult lesson? You’ll miss things. Ashley W is not there for Ashley N’s daughters, all birthday parties, school recitals, or basketball games. Even if Ashley W gets a pregnancy test or goes home from a bad date, Ashley N is not there. And honestly? It sucks.

What saves us? FaceTime. It’s our lifeline. It’s not just for quick check-in. I use it all the time. Whether you’re folding your laundry and watching TV “together” from separate sofas or discussing outfit options before you go out, FaceTime counts a few moments. And our work continues to connect with us too. One of us is on the opposite shore at least once or twice a quarter, so even if we don’t intend to see each other, space (and our work) makes sure it happens.

What’s next? Ask Ashley?
