In light of trying to support Canada, I decided to cut my IPSY subscription in half and do it every other month. I’m still excited because the products are all new to me, so I still want to have a subscription. I’ve been buying Pixil and Diamond paintings, so I’ve been slowing down my beauty purchases since the beginning of this year.
The theme for the January IPSY bag is “Clean Slate,” which will exchange years from the Essentials. When I saw Laura Mercier setting spray spray spray on my bag during Sneak Peak, I was most excited to give it a try!

What’s wrong | 03 Burgundy Wind Glider Gel Eyeliner Pencil
What a coincidence that I bought a burgundy liquid eyeliner because I crave this colour. It’s more tolerant in terms of accuracy, and the formula is very smooth and pigmented, so it’s great to have the gel liner option. I don’t know how often I use this color, so I feel it’s not as surprising as it is to have this pencil full size. I received the full size for $19.
Shina B Miami | Miami Spice Lipstick
In the shade, this is a beautiful brown pigmented lipstick. It’s warm and bold, but still neutral in color enough to wear every day. The formula was very creamy and the colour reward was great, but there was no major longevity due to its creaminess. I received a deluxe sample worth USD 13.33.
Porky and polish | Sugar and coconut infused body scrub
I liked this! The coconut aroma is very natural, not artificially sweet, and the sugar granules are quite thick, but they melted. I think it’s strange that this is a body scrub and only comes in one size at 50ml. Not that much! This is similar to the hand scrub size. I rechecked it on the Pamper and Polish website. 50ml is certainly the full size of this! I received the full size worth 30 US dollars.
Laura Mercier | Semi-transparent pure setting spray
Finally save the best! This setting spray is scent-free and alcohol-free and promises to lock your makeup for 16 hours! I love this travel size and will probably reuse the bottle for another setting spray when finished. So this sprays clear and seals the face for the day, but it’s a very good sealant and right after drying and moving your face, you start to feel like the seal is “breaking”. It felt strange at first, but after a few minutes I stopped realizing it. This is a deluxe sample worth $21 (the Canadian Sephora mini size is $29)
Final Verdict: This Glam bag will cost up to $103.33 USD, and the mini size of the Laura Mercier set is already paid for the bag. I wanted to try this item, so the January bag was totally worth it. Everything else was great and I used all the other products, but I think the body scrubs were much more expensive than they should have.
My beauty spending has been much lower this year and economic uncertainty is looming, so I don’t know if I’m doing a lot of it this year. what about you? Especially as a Canadian?
