Benefit Bad Gal Burgundy Mascara Wild Plum Review.jpg

Two popular burgundy mascaras are Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara Burgundy Haze (now discontinued) and L’Oreal Paris Makeup Voluminous Original Mascara Deep BurgundyBut judging by the aforementioned TikTok video, Benefit’s version seems to be the most understated: It won’t necessarily make people stop and stare (or worry about conjunctivitis), but it might make them wonder why your eyes seem especially attractive.

On days when I don’t wear much makeup, I like to wear Wild Plum. I apply two coats to the top and bottom lashes (I don’t use a primer, but I think the burgundy stands out more if I apply a white mascara first). It adds a little color, makes me feel like I’ve put in a little effort, and I really believe it makes my green eyes look brighter than a regular black mascara. Just like the original Bad Galvan formula, the burgundy version really lengthens my lashes and lasts all day with very little flakes. The only downside is that it requires extra force to remove at the end of the day.

I know it can be intimidating to wear a color other than black, especially if you’re like me and don’t wear much makeup. But trust me, this mascara is just beautiful. Plus, makeup artists Fulvia Farolfi Previously said charm One thing about colored mascara: “It doesn’t have to be perfect.” A little smudged burgundy mascara is sure to look more like a mistake than smudged black mascara (which will make passersby wonder, “Is that eyeshadow?”).

If you’ve ever taken an art class (or are a fan of Almay’s palettes), you know that green and red/purple are opposite each other on the color wheel, so it’s no surprise that burgundy shades suit me. But since TikTok users claim that burgundy suits me, everyoneI asked some of my coworkers who don’t have green eyes to test it as well.
