Eye stain Cardi B Finally, on September 8th, the music video for “Bongos”, which also features fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion, was released. As expected, the duo did not disappoint at all with their visuals. Colorful cutout bodysuits, towering rainbow heels, giant feather headpieces, and inches of hair.
By far my favorite hairstyle in this video isn’t actually the one on Cardi B’s head. Instead, it’s a dark red two-piece suit made entirely of box braids. Yes, that’s right. At the 15-second mark, the rapper is seen wearing a bikini and long hair (this time on top of her head) of the same color as she dances inside an open refrigerator. The red hair on her head was almost straight, with the tips falling to her knees. Because she’s dancing, you might not notice the braids or golden accessories all over her hair.
The rest of her braids come from her bikini set. The braids were braided together to create a bikini top, with several braids sticking out like fringe from each bra cup and flowing down towards her hips. Like the top, the bottom also has a braided “fringe” that flares out from the hem, creating a skirt of sorts. These red braids were also adorned with golden accessories similar to the ones in her real hair.
Honestly, my biggest criticism of this video is that the rappers didn’t release it earlier in the summer. Every time I hear his funk-influenced beats, my butt can’t help but move and I’m instantly craving a summer party.
