I purchased Chanel Le Vernis Nail Color Pirate 08 (151 is the new and improved shade Pirate Le Vernis) when it first came out a few years ago. Unfortunately, I wasn’t really interested in red at the time, so I let it go.
It was nice to see it re-promoted as part of the Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss collection. So I was able to buy another bottle of Chanel Pirate Nail Polish for myself.

Chanel Pirate Nail Polish is classified as True Red. Looking at the color of the bottle, it looks similar to Chanel’s Tentation Nail Polish, but without the glitter. As you may already know, I’m always drawn to glittery nail polishes, and one of the deciding factors when choosing a nail polish is glitter.
Chanel Pirate Nail Polish doesn’t have any glitter, but I love the pinkish-magenta shade. Chanel Pirate Nail Polish is a little darker than most of my red nail polishes. It’s definitely a cool color, and just by looking at the bottle you can tell that it’s a timeless color.
I think Chanel’s Pirate Nail Polish is not aimed at the younger generation, but suits adult women better. But if you’re using it for nail art, I think even teenagers can rock it on their nails.
performance
On my nails, Chanel Pirate Nail Polish is true to its color. It’s a very gorgeous dark vampy blood red with a bit of shimmer to it. Chanel Pirates has a gel-like consistency and is fairly easy to apply and glides smoothly on the nails. The consistency is neither too thin nor too thick. I applied Chanel Pirate Nail Polish evenly and evenly.
However, I did experience some bubbles, but not all of them were exciting. It’s okay if there are some bubbles on your nails.

One coat of Chanel Pirate Nail Polish is already semi-opaque and the color is a cool-toned pinkish red. In the photos in this post, I applied three coats to my nails for a more even, beautiful, and smooth result.
After 3 coats, the color becomes a deep blood red and already looks vampire-like to me. (See photo above) I think the Chanel Pirate Nail Polish will probably last about 4-5 days before chipping around the edges.
my experience
After just one coat (pictured above, left), the color is very similar to Chanel’s Tentation nail polish. Two coats of Chanel Pirate Nail Polish gives you a true red look, and three coats gives you a vampy dark red.
I prefer colors that develop in two coats, so I think I’ll just use two coats next time. It takes approximately 10-15 minutes for Chanel Pirate Nail Polish to dry completely.
I resisted the temptation to touch my painted nails to see if they were dry, but after about 10 minutes I couldn’t resist anymore and when I touched just my little finger nail, it was already completely dry and hardened. .
Final thoughts and my opinion
I purchased the Chanel Pirate Nail Polish for $27 at Chanel. I think it’s a must-have nail polish this holiday season because it’s so gorgeous on your nails.
