[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Essential sent me some bases to try. First up is Clarins Tinted Olio Serum, a pigmented, glowing oil serum. I’m trying to remember other colored oils but can’t, so I can say this is an unusual formula.

The formula is a blend of oils (jojoba, squalane, hazelnut) and ceramides, so it’s super comfortable to wear (not for those with oily skin) and leaves you with a nourishing glow rather than an oily glow. I’ll give it. I tried it and loved it – great if you’re looking to transition from summer shades to a more moisturizing formula for fall, especially if you still have a warmth to your tone that can be gorgeous in some colors I think condensation is ideal.

Squalane is a truly wonderful oil. I always like to see squalane in products. However, the main oil that’s flagged is hazelnut (which I think people with nut allergies should avoid), and it’s not as easily used as other oils. It is rich in vitamin E and is said to have anti-inflammatory and sedative properties. The feel of it on your skin is certainly very pleasant.

This is shade 4. I think it’s a little warmer than it looks in the photo, but I like the way the light reflects. The shift in tone in the evening is pleasant, but it also makes your natural skin look more vibrant than when you don’t wear it at all.

Shade 4 is on top. What I don’t like is the dropper. This has the advantage of being recyclable since it’s all glass, but it can be a pain when colors are involved. Available in 10 colors ranging from light to deep, Escentual has them all in stock. It’s 39 pounds here. It’s suitable for people whose skin is dry or rough due to temperature, but not for those who don’t like oil and prefer a matte finish.
