Hype Hair was there to witness the labor of love that is Lace Land: Free Fest. Throughout the night, the block was buzzing with anticipation for Raceland 2023. The annual event is created by celebrity hairstylist Damian Flagler, who creates the biggest beauty-inspired giveaways you’ve ever seen. Attendees were provided with complimentary wigs, wig installation, makeup, hair tools, hair and skin care products, food and beverages, musical performances, and of course the Hype Her Hair cover reveal. The beauty of Race Land is that many black-owned businesses had the opportunity to showcase their businesses in front of hundreds of guests.
Ragler explained that in 2024, she hopes to expand the event to serve more people than ever before. When asked about the inspiration behind the event, she went on to say that she felt there was such a great need and she was lucky to be able to do it. She knew that she would provide assistance and that it was something she had to take on.
