The acquisition includes its natural cetylated fatty acid technology and the Ceradrine brand.

According to a press release, ceradrine and cetylated fatty acid technology are perfectly suited to Everwell’s mission to “help you to look, feel and perform all by advancing the science of safe, convenient and achievable functional ingredients.”

Science-supported benefits and market expansion

“The science and technology and the Ceradrine brand we have acquired will bring additional solutions for joint health, skincare and companion pet health,” Stephen Rosenman, CEO of Everwell Health, told Nutraing Redients.

Ceradrine has been the subject of almost 12 clinical studies that support its effectiveness in promoting joint health, flexibility and comfort, and to address local signs of skin aging, Rosenman said. Everwell Health intends to leverage this existing research to “expand the existence of this established ingredient market and support existing customers with new scientific investments.”

The acquisition coincides with the company’s strategy of becoming “the industry-leading developer and marketer of unique, science-backed functional ingredients,” according to a press release from Everwell.

Address consumer trends in mobility and beauty

With increasing consumer demand for mobility and beauty solutions, Everwell Health places Celadrin as a key element to meet these evolving needs. The scientifically supported benefits of the brand are potentially attractive options for manufacturers looking to create multifunctional products that address joint health and skincare concerns.

“We have observed strong growth in new products aimed at these health concerns over the past two years,” Jordan Miller, Vice President of Marketing at Everwell Health, said in a company’s press release. According to Innova Market’s insights, “The launch of joint health supplements has increased near CAGR from 2022 to 2024,” he said.

Rosenman highlighted the potential of ceradrine in these areas.

“The fact that Ceradrine already has science-backed benefits in both mobility and skin health is an advantage for manufacturers who develop products that support these major consumer priorities,” he said.

“It’s not just an aging demographic looking for these types of products. Young people are looking for healthy aging solutions early in their lives, maintaining physical capabilities, extending healthy functions and maintaining a youthful look,” he added.

Citing consumer insights from FMCG gurus, Miller shares, “54% of North American consumers have expressed interest in products that address mobility even when they are not experiencing symptoms, and 50% of consumers are interested in skincare products and are interested in signs of aging so that they can be visually interested in signs of aging.”

These findings “exemplify the immense potential of new and innovative approaches that support mobility, joint comfort, and improved skin health and appearance,” he said.

Future opportunities in cosmetics and skincare

According to recent research results, ceradrine is particularly suitable for adopting cosmetic and skincare products formulations.

The ingredients have been specially studied for their local skin benefits, based on evidence that they may help to promote a healthy response to inflammation. Several studies addressing common skin problems such as redness and roughness “indicate that these unique cetylated fatty acids can help address signs of aging and promote a more youthful look,” Rosenman said.

Regarding the versatility of ceradrine, he noted that it is available in both powdered and oiled forms, saying it can be sold with claims such as “helps dealing with signs of skin aging” and “promoting a healthy look.”

“This creates an opportunity to reach a broader customer base in the skincare market,” Rosenman said.
