When it comes to party season, skin care is often not at the top of our list. At this time of year, we usually turn our attention to champagne and sparkling wine, and there’s nothing wrong with that. However, once you let your hair down, it’s important to also spend some time caring for your skin to keep it looking its best (just in time for your next party!). Whether it’s the perfect cleanser to remove all the traces of Christmas party makeup or a nourishing eye cream that works wonders for puffy eyes and dark circles. I love buying party skin care.
double cleansing
No matter how tired you are or how many drinks you’ve had, always remove your makeup before going to bed. Double cleansing is essential to remove all makeup and dirt from your skin. Especially if you’re wearing waterproof mascara, use a cleansing oil or balm first, followed by a gentle lathering cleanser to thoroughly cleanse your skin.

remove dead skin
Exfoliating your skin is another important step in your party season skin care routine. Once or twice a week, use a gentle exfoliant to remove dead skin cells and reveal brighter, smoother skin. You can read my guide to exfoliation here.

hydration
Hydration is key to achieving healthy, glowing skin and should be at the top of your wish list for the perfect party look. Use a hydrating serum or facial oil to nourish your skin and lock in moisture, and use a hydrating face mask once a week to give your skin an extra boost. To stay hydrated before a party, try a sheet mask (you can buy my favorite here).

protect
Protecting your skin from the sun is important all year round, but it’s especially important during the party season when we spend more time outdoors, such as Christmas lunches and social gatherings. No matter what the weather, use your daily SPF to protect your skin from harmful UV rays.

eye cream
Nothing tells you that you’re burning both ends of the candle faster than tired eyes. The delicate skin around the eyes requires special care and attention, especially at this time of year. Use an eye cream to moisturize and brighten the under eye area, reducing dark circles and puffiness.

Lip balm
During the party season, especially those expecting holiday romance, don’t forget to take care of your lips. Use a nourishing lip balm to keep your lips soft and moisturized, carry it with you to moisturize during the day, and layer it before bed to repair overnight.

catch up on sleep
There is no getting around this. This season too, I have to sleep at some point. Getting enough sleep is essential for healthy, glowing skin. Getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night is the only way to give your skin time to repair and regenerate, so if you’ve missed out on sleep time on a night of partying, catch up on it when you can. Please secure it. Sleeping in on Sunday is a must…
