It is a well-known and indisputable scientific fact. Florence Pugh is a great grower outerwear for super short haircuts. After shaving her head last May, she basically spent most of 2023 proving it. Following that buzz cut, there were some fantasy colors and lots of creative ways to wear short hair, from spiky looks to faux hawks. And her latest style takes her iconic ’90s inspiration and gives it a very 2024, Florence Pugh-like spin.
On Wednesday, February 14, Pugh attended a Dune: Part 2 photocall in London wearing an asymmetrical black Maticevski jumpsuit, silver platforms, a barbed silver choker and complementary earrings. I attended the event wearing one. Pugh’s ensemble had a futuristic vibe, similar to co-star Zendaya’s outfits for this press and premiere tour, but her hair felt quite nostalgic. In fact, it looked like it was channeling one of the most famous mixies (mullet and pixie combo, for the uninitiated) of the 1990s: Princess Diana’s.

Pugh’s hair had volume on top and was tucked behind her ears, just like Princess Diana had her iconic hairstyle. This made her long backside feel like a fun, flirty mullet, especially with its tip bouncing up.
But it also looked very 2024-ish. In fact, there are several points. The platinum hue with high-contrast roots and pieced finish are very current. It’s the perfect balance between modern retro and modern touches.
