I’ve been hesitant to review my hair since I died of my hair purple, as it’s a bit of a routine to watch hair, but as the colour has declined so I’m planning to return to blonde/mushroom brown balage around June. In other words, my urge to stick to my purple wasn’t that intense, so it felt like a good time to try something new hair that starts at the drugstore. L’Oreal With the new glycol gloss collection!
The idea behind glycol gloss products is that using 2% glycolate gloss complex (yes, the same acids we’ve used on the face) to penetrate the hair fibers and seal and flatten the cuticles, allowing the hair to reflect light more effectively for up to 10 washes. If the hair is dull, porous and coarse, how does it reflect the light? ! This routine includes A: shampoo, conditioner, 5-minute lamination treatment, and serum on vacation.
Glycol Gloss Shampoo*
I wrapped my brain a bit trying to find out a bit if glycolic acid actually did anything to my real hair. Other than that, I don’t know how effective it is for the actual hair itself, other than making the hair follicles happier.
Sulfate-free shampoos contain 2% glycol gloss complexes and are responsible for filling cracks and gaps along the hair fibers. For someone like me with dry hair, this shampoo didn’t at least provide a little moisture, but it made the scalp and hair clearer.
Glycol Gloss Conditioner*

5-minute lamination rinse-off treatment*

This 17% glycol gloss complex treatment is actually an overall routine, as it doesn’t actually happen. This, in addition to shampoo and conditioner, made my hair feel soft, but not too soft. I was actually hoping for more differences in terms of hair texture, but I’ll admit that my hair looked smoother after my hair looked smoother on less crazy flyaway. I’ll continue using this but I don’t have shampoo and conditioner as I feel that using something else will make my hair softer.
leave-in serum*

I really liked this! This serum is a 14% glycol gloss complex and when I applied this sparkly pink formula, my hair looked smoother and felt like it was! This was used on day 2 and/or day 3 where it would be useful for wet and dry hair and would require a bit of review. My coloured edges are very dry from the thermal styling, so I was able to use the recommended 2 drops (like two pumps) without the hair looking heavy.

Final Verdict: Hmm, as a collection, I don’t think this works very well for me, but the laminate treatment was effective and I preferred serum as a mid-hair wash pickup. I don’t feel my hair is in its best condition, but I prefer to use more moist shampoo and conditioner in combination with a hair mask while using a 1-2x/month laminate treatment. Another thing I liked about this collection was the scent of the product! They were very fragrant, but the scent was somewhat nostalgic for me, reminding me of the sweet floral scent I liked as a teenager.
