what i bought

I feel like I wrote this Solde janeiro I’ve been posting all day, but when I look at the clock, only about 2 hours have passed. I woke up at my normal work hours on my day off and then worked my day job for about 4 hours, so I guess it was longer than I expected, but I felt a little better for tomorrow. I completed some things that were on my long bucket list!

I resisted buying Sol de Janeiro for a while because it seemed very trendy (and still is to some extent) and very expensive for a moisturizer. Finally, at one of his VIB Rouge events, I lost and got a small sampler and a Bun Bun Cream and then rest is history. Understood!

shampoo and conditioner

First of all, the packaging of this mini bottle is so cute! The matte finish makes it fun to hold in your hand, and the button you press to open the bottle has a very cute finish. After enjoying the Bun Bun Cream scent so much, I decided to purchase a holiday set that included mini hair care in the same Cheirosa ’62 scent (a blend of pistachio, salted caramel, and vanilla). Brazilian Gioia shampoo and conditioner is sulfate-free, color-safe, repairs bonds, and hydrates hair without weighing it down. Color safety is something I always try to do, but in general, most shampoos and conditioners are pretty mild and the only time I want to be particular about certain hair care products is if I’m blonde.

If showering is therapeutic for you, like it is for me, the scent of things is very important to me, and both the shampoo and conditioner smelled delicious, like Cheirosa ’62, but I didn’t rinse everything off. Afterwards, only a small amount remained in my hair. Both products have a very creamy texture and my coarse hair felt very soft even without a hair mask. It might be a little heavy for people with fine hair compared to my stiff and porous hair.

I think the folks at Sol de Janiero knew we couldn’t get enough of the Cheirosa ’62 scent. So this hair and body mist is absolutely perfect to keep that sweet scent going. The mist is quite light and the scent is concentrated, so when spraying it on my hair, I only need two sprays as the scent lingers well on porous hair. There’s also a small product note on the Sephora website that says this can also be used in lingerie. Oh, Lala!

Rio Radiance Cream and Brazilian Bumbun Cream

I wasn’t originally going to review these two body creams, but they’ve been so great this summer that I can’t stop talking about them. I first picked up a mini version of the infamous Bun Bun Cream to see if I liked it. And yes, I definitely liked it. If you haven’t tried Sol de Janiero’s “Tub” products yet, you should do so just for the satisfying feeling of the lid. The lid is thick and non-slip, so even if your hands are covered in product, the lid/tub won’t slip out of your hands any time soon. The actual body cream is highly moisturizing and creamy, but not sticky at all. It’s a pretty strong Cheirosa ’62 scent, so you don’t need perfume if you apply this all over your body!

Rio Radiance Cream was something I got earlier this year thanks to Tati’s favorite videos (yes, I still watch her to remember why I started watching beauty YouTube all those years ago). The main reason is that the cream contains mica to give you a little bit of a summer glow. Also obviously a limited edition that includes the scent ‘Queiroza ’87’ which is a blend of solar tuberose, leite de coco and vanilla, all reminiscent of summer beaches. Although the scent is not as sweet as Cheirosa ’62, it is still quite strong and lasts when applied. Mica is also very delicate and adds a slight glow to the skin.

Final verdict: I liked the hair care, but it will be a while before I buy it again because I still have a lot of hair care I want to review and I will definitely buy the body cream again. The only downside to the body cream, which I love, is that the scent is too strong for my husband’s nose and he starts to sneeze, which is very disappointing. He just commented when I wore Rio His Radiance last month, so I’m hoping it will be better in the winter when the air isn’t so “heavy and humid.”
