OK, in classic Karen fashion, I got my makeup and hair done for a job interview early yesterday morning, only to find out at the last minute that it would be done over the phone and not by video, haha! I have no choice.
At least you now have an excuse to try out your new eyeliner. GXVE Line It Up Gel Pencil, Sapphire Skies, beautiful dark navy blue matte shade. We’ll talk about that in a moment.

I don’t know if you’ve looked for a job recently, but it takes a lot of time to look for a job these days. Well, at least in the creative field I’m in now (writing).
You have to submit your resume online, which is surprisingly difficult to do due to the sheer volume of applicants. Next, the HR representative conducts a screening interview, and once you pass that, the creative conducts two to three more interviews with members of her team. Sometimes it’s an individual interview, sometimes it’s a group interview. After that, there is a written exam. If you pass the written exam, you will have another interview, usually with someone in a vice president or executive position.
That’s a lot!
As I drove Connor to the dentist for his filling (baby’s first cavity), I thought to myself, “I feel like I’m dating again, haha!” On all these calls, you have to look your best, present your best self, and hope that 1) the other person likes you enough to move on, and 2) you don’t accidentally offend anyone. yeah. In the middle. During that time, you have no idea how other people actually feel about you.
Regardless, I know something good is going to happen. You just have to be patient.
Now for the fun part…eyeliner. Specifically, the blue gel pencil liner from Gwen Stefani’s makeup line GXVE. She has a lot of colors but this color caught my attention because of the creaminess of the pencil and the intensity of the pigment. It should also be waterproof.
In these photos, I had my makeup on for 6 hours and the liner never moved from my lashes or water line. But what I like most about it is the color. It has depth and intensity, but not harshness. Perfect if you want a defined look but prefer a softer eyeliner than a real black eyeliner.
At list price, each pencil typically costs $20 for 0.04 ounces, but currently on the GXVE Beauty website. Everything is 50% offSo, it looks like I need to buy another color or two of Dagnavit. I think the purple and taupe are very beautiful.
One day left until Thanksgiving. We’re going to keep it calm this year – just me, El Hub, Conor Clare and Rosie Paws. Instead of turkey, I’ll be eating crab with lots of butter and salt, French bread, sides from a local gourmet deli, and a pie or two. Connor and I are going to make apple pie today (Click here for the recipe); I hope I can take decent photos so it doesn’t look too ugly.
