How to use it
This lip pencil is very easy to apply. If you want to create a sharp line, it is best to sharpen it quite sharply. The brand recommends using ILIA. Large Sharpener*To get a precise tip. You can try and see if you can use your current sharpener, but you may need an ILIA one as these are larger than normal liners.
First, line your lips, then paint inside the line to completely cover them.
ILIA Lip Sketch Review
I think this is a really nice lip pencil, all the colours they have are great, I love how the colour glides on smoothly onto the lips, it has a great emollient texture that doesn’t tug on the skin at all.
It feels like a moisturizing pencil lipstick. The color is amazing and it plumps up your lips in just a few seconds. It’s more moisturizing than your average lip crayon or lip liner and is super comfortable.
As promised, it kept my lips moisturized and not drying at all. It claims to plump the lips, which I didn’t notice, but the formula certainly leaves the lips smooth and moisturized. I also really like the soft matte finish.
In terms of precision, if you want to draw a very precise line, you need to keep your pencil sharp, which is even more important for darker colors, as you can see in the Blue Note lip swatch – I could have drawn my lip line a lot sharper.
One downside is that you will most likely need that brand of sharpener. Large Sharpener*A bit fiddly, but not too expensive. Another thing to be careful of is making sure you put the cap on tightly. I was a bit lazy and the lid slipped off a couple of times. Just press it on tightly, so safety first.
The longevity of ILIA Lip Sketch is good – it doesn’t last all day, but it does hold up well for a few hours before needing to be reapplied, and it’s perfect to wear under a gloss if you want a more dewy, glossy look and feel.
I love the color “Piazza” which is a beautiful and very vibrant red, and “Genre” is also one of my favorites, it’s the perfect 90s nude color. I love it.
