Naked Sunshield Peptide Patches are “ultra-thin, breathable, virtually invisible sunscreen patches that block 99.9% of UVB and 98.1% of UVA rays.”
“Up to two-thirds of people forget to reapply sunscreen, contributing to rising rates of skin cancer, so we introduced the Naked Sunshield Patch to address the challenge of frequently reapplying sunscreen,” said Myunghoon Jang, founder and CEO of parent company Biosensor Laboratories.
“Unlike traditional sunscreens, there’s no need to reapply – just peel it off when you’re done in the sun. We want this product to embody everyday comfort and sun protection.”
Additionally, the patch is infused with hyaluronic acid and peptides, which have beneficial effects on the skin.
Chang told CosmeticsDesign-Asia that the product is backed by six clinical studies conducted by the P&K Skin Research Center in South Korea.
“These studies highlight a 43.7% improvement in UV-induced skin soothing effect over a two-week period, a 17.3% increase in skin cooling effect immediately after application, and a 13.4% improvement in lifting effect on sagging skin around the eyes.”
“Furthermore, after two weeks, there was an 8.2% improvement in skin density, a 7.4% reduction in wrinkles around the eyes, and a 25.4% improvement in melasma, age spots and hyperpigmentation,” he said.
Jiang said the sunscreen patch responds to a growing demand for products that cater to active lifestyles.
“We’re also seeing the convergence of sports and beauty. People are looking for products that are good for their skin and that help them in different parts of life. These are all core to our mission and philosophy, and there’s great potential for the Franz brand to tap into that. We think this applies to all age groups. Our core customers are Gen X, but we’re also seeing growth among millennials and Gen Z.”
According to Chan, the brand sold 3 million units within the first three months of its launch.
The product has also received several awards, including the Promising Innovation Award at the IMCAS World Congress.
Making the impossible possible
Going forward, the company is aiming for the Naked SunShield Peptide Patch, and the brand also offers serums, essences and ampoules.
In the future, we would like to expand our lineup of skin care patches to include acne care products as well.
“Short-term plans include launching an invisible acne patch that utilizes ultra-thin film technology and allows makeup to be applied over it. We aim to provide meaningful solutions to the acne market, focusing on developing anti-inflammatory and immune peptide-based products,” Jiang said.
He added: “We love developing solutions that others don’t think are possible.”
The brand recently expanded into the U.S. and sees global potential as beauty consumers place more emphasis on skin care.
“We are pleased to see the market increasingly prioritising skincare over cosmetics. Consumers understand the benefits of skincare routines, restoring skin barrier function and premium ingredients,” Jiang said.
