Dior Holiday 2024 Collection 1.jpg

I bought it and it was quite a splurge!

As some of you may know, especially from my Instagram, back in April, during my stress vacation, I decided to devote the rest of my 2024 beauty budget to one brand. The brand is dior! As I scrolled through Instagram, new releases, events, and GWPs started appearing, and I went back to old Dior press samples to reminisce. In doing so, I realized that I had been ignoring a very good brand with a high quality formula and of course great packaging. Over the years, I’ve grown fed up with Sephora and the lack of customer service, so I buy almost all of my Dior products from the Dior counter at Holt Renfrew. I love that I buy from a Canadian department store and pay a commission to a real person. I also get rewards like monthly facials, invitations to exclusive Dior events, and a much better GWP than I’ve ever received at Sephora. All this to say, I will continue to shop with Holt Renfrew!

It’s been a really long time since I’ve done a makeup post of this size! I used to review a lot of makeup collections, but I miss doing that, so I decided to review this year’s Dior holiday collection, designed by Pietro Ruffo. When I saw the gold royal motif packaging, I knew I had to own some of the items. I spent all of my money on this collection (I don’t need press packages anymore), it wasn’t cheap, but like I said, all my money is spent here, so I don’t regret it. There is no!

Dior Palette Couture Eyeshadow Palette Limited Edition

Dior Palette Couture Eyeshadow Palette ($105 CDN) is an absolute stunner of five metallic shadows that you can use to create a day or night look. I liked this palette better than other palettes that included lip and cheek products. As the years have gone on, I’ve realized that I never mix lip products with eye/cheek products. I also don’t like cream products to be powdery compared to powder products.

Another really beautiful thing about this palette is the metal clasp with ‘Christian Dior’ written on the front. Pull down to reveal holiday perks.

I can say that Dior delivers the metallic shadows very well, the shades are consistently pigmented and the overspray is actually still intact even though I swatched it. All the shadows here are creamy and you get swatches in one swipe. The purple wasn’t the smoothest, but it’s still spotty and makes for a great smoky eye. My favorite is of course neutral brown, but I would love to try metallic red someday!

Dior 5 Couleurs Limited Edition (863 Soir de Val)

At first I chose this quint because it matched my purple hair a little more. A metallic silver heart is surrounded by taupe hues for a festive feel. When I saw the silver, I fell in love with its pigmentation and creamy texture. I also wore it as an overall shadow with a bit of purple/gray (bottom left corner) as an outer V.

All five shades are beautiful, and the taupe shade is perfect for everyday work. Overall, this palette was easier to use than I expected, and the metallic silver shade was also more comfortable to wear than I expected.

Dior 5 Couleurs Limited Edition 643 Golden Masquerade

I picked up Golden Masquerade on a whim after looking at a sample at a boutique. I thought this would be an easy palette to use since the shades were a little more neutral. Except for the matte burgundy shade, all the other shades are pretty muted. I thought these shades would clash with my current purple hair, but they weren’t as intense as I expected, so they ended up brightening my eyes and face rather than changing the look. Ta.

I love packaging, but high polish cases are the worst because they get dirty easily. I wish it had a pattern because it always feels pretty gross when I start using it.

Lumière 114 and Soir de Bal 641

I’ve had fun wearing Soir de Val (see here), but I haven’t yet tried the top coat that was supposed to be layered over Soir de Val…oops!

Dior Addict Fashion Lipstick Case (Grand Bal)

I had to get my hands on this limited edition Dior Addict case. I know it’s very expensive because I have to buy another lipstick, but all I do is swap out the two shades I have in the case.

Rouge Dior Forever Liquid Sequins, Dreams 100 and Dazzle 323

These liquid lipsticks already have these shades, but for the holiday season they’re adding a “sequin” finish that reveals a hint of sparkle when you press your lips together. The formula is very smooth and feels like a dream to apply, but it can be very drying, especially when I’m at work in the hot weather. I always have to apply a gloss or balm on top, which defeats the purpose of a long-wear lipstick, but I find that it gets too dry once the initial moisture wears off. Can you imagine my lips becoming dry and glittery then? It’s kind of a nightmare and I’m so sad that this wasn’t more moisturizing, but the shade and initial feel was great!

Forever Couture Luminizer in 002 Corail Lumiere

This powder highlighter came in two shades, but the coral shade was more interesting to me and I was more interested in the beautiful packaging. The overspray is also pretty solid, so the pattern didn’t come off when I swatched it.

I like that it’s not too glittery and feels very warm on the skin. I don’t wear highlighter regularly, but I love mixing coral/orange blush with rosy highlighter.

And it was done! This is the last big review of 2024, and I think we managed to finish it safely. Did you end up picking up anything from the Dior Holiday Collection?
