After chatting with blogger friends and doing some research myself, the idea that this blush “reacts to your skin’s natural pH to instantly give you the perfect shade of natural redness” is true in a way. We’d like to think there’s always some melanin-adapting magic here, but the truth is, the magic ingredient in all “pH-changing” products is an ingredient called Red 27. This ingredient is transparent until it reacts with moisture in a water-free base. Lips turn bright pinkish-red. It’s your actual skin tone that makes the actual color of your blush look unique, but the shade itself will always be the same pinkish-red. That’s okay, because I’ve always wondered why even the “mood-altering” drugstore lipsticks I received as a kid turned pink.
Apply this blush directly to your face 2-3 times on each side using a doe foot applicator. Just a little bit is enough to go a long way. The doe-foot applicator is flat and holds the product securely on both sides, making it easy to do both cheeks without having to re-dip into the tube. At first I didn’t think this oil (it doesn’t feel like an oil at all since it becomes part of the skin) would absorb into the brush, but it worked!
