Manicures Before Enhancements: Building a Solid Base

Manicure Training Is Essential.jpg

It’s not a good idea to skip the manicure qualification and go straight to UV gel polishes and enhancements.

It’s like learning how to dye your hair without understanding hair!

Why manicure training is essential

A manicure qualification is not a one day course. There is a lot to learn (not just read) including anatomy and physiology, nail and skin conditions including contraindications, and plenty of practice in applying and painting manicures. Ideally there will be multiple case studies as every individual is different. Case studies should follow a treatment plan which can be amended if necessary. The recommended teaching hours for regulated qualification in providing manicure treatments is a minimum of 50 hours.

Filling the gap in traditional manicure training

Questions posed on SM platforms reveal that manicure training is being omitted: many nail professionals do not know how to apply traditional nail polish (if you are used to UV gel polish, it dries out quickly), are not aware of common nail and skin conditions, and do not know how to give proper homecare advice.

A manicure is the basis of all nail services, so don’t skip this important first step.
