I love Maybelline mascaras so I was pretty confident this would work.
I’m a big fan of Maybelline Sky High – see my review here. I’ve been wearing Burgundy Haze almost daily for the past few months – see the effects of Burgundy Haze here. This Instagram video.
While the Sky High Mascara is primarily intended to make your lashes look longer, I think Maybelline Fireworks works better at adding volume (and length) to your lashes. As you can see in the before and after photos above, it adds volume so quickly that one coat was enough.
The formula is super black and adds amazing impact and definition to the eyes. What I love about this formula is that it doesn’t dry down my lashes at all and keeps them supple all day.
This means that you can easily build up your Maybelline Lash Sensational Firework Mascara at the end of the day. Often times, when you try to apply too much mascara, it can be a struggle to build up. When you try to apply too much mascara, the brush often gets stuck or caught on your lashes. Whereas when you build up with Firework, it feels smooth and flowing.
I think the smooth, gel-based formula, combined with a very flexible and bendable brush, makes for an intuitive application.
I love that it makes my lashes look so thick, long and black. I think it separates, curls, lifts and holds my lashes nicely. It makes my lashes look really full and fanned out and there is very little flaking or smudging.
The pink packaging is fun but quite big and bulky. I definitely prefer the Sky High style packaging but it’s not a big deal. For me, Sky High is my go to mascara for everyday use whereas Fireworks is my go to mascara when I need something a bit more dramatic.
I love thick lashes and I really like the look of volume, so I liked using two coats of Maybelline Lash Sensational Firework Mascara, but if you prefer something a little less voluminous, one coat is all you need – it saves you not only product but time too.
If you’re looking for a new mascara and you like something super black and dramatic, I think this is definitely worth a try.
It does take a little more effort to remove than Sky High, but all you need to do is massage the oil cleanser into your lashes for about a minute.
