CDU: What are some ways Colgate Skincare will innovate or formulate disruptive products in the skincare space in 2023?
Leah Arvanitidou (LA): At Colgate-Palmolive, we are committed to developing science-backed products and solutions that help advance our purpose of reimagining a healthier future for everyone. Science is at the heart of our business, including our skin health brands EltaMD, Filorga and PCA Skin, our pet nutrition brand Hill’s Pet Nutrition, and our oral care products, with more research results than our major competitors combined. L.A.: Our team is always motivated to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation to develop products that improve not only skin health, but overall health and well-being. That’s just one of the reasons we collaborated with NASA to conduct microgravity experiments on the International Space Station and contributed to the development of PCA Pro-Max Age Renewal.
In this experiment, we wanted to investigate the effects of microgravity on skin physiology. More specifically, we sought to take a closer look at the differences in skin health and aging on Earth and in the weightless environment of space, known as microgravity. Surprisingly, it was found that the lack of gravity negatively affects the overall health of the skin and accelerates the rate of skin aging.
These discoveries, along with nearly a decade of development, led to the creation of PCA Skin ProMax Age Renewal, which features patent-pending Micro Growth Factor (MGF) technology comprised of four unique signal tripeptides that help promote collagen production. was helpful in providing information.

We understand that spray sunscreens are often preferred by consumers, but there is no guarantee that a typical aerosol spray will properly apply sunscreen. We wanted to develop a spray-on sunscreen that could be easily and effectively applied using a bag-on-valve (BoV) (a dispensing system that separates the product and the propellant inside the can) instead of traditional aerosols.
