Have a nice makeup day

I came to Sephora yesterday to get some things from a savings event (more on this soon). The experience was a little better than the last time I went there. I was able to talk to a very kind salesperson about my favorite things in the store. I remembered a few things from that conversation.

There are always nice and fun people who make beauty interesting and fun.

All you have to do is run into them. That seems to be the key!

Lately, I often feel like I’ve seen it all before. I’ve been writing about her beauty since 2007 (!), but sometimes it feels like nothing really surprises me. But when I get to chat with others about the cool things we love, that glow, that lightness I always felt every time I got into beauty talk mode with someone who knows the language of makeup, I… Feel it again.

After a long time, I walked out of the store with a spring in my step.

From here it will be Q.

What kind of makeup has been popular in stores lately?

This is a question I asked a salesperson yesterday (Hi, Jeron!). If you don’t mind, I’d love to hear what works for you.

This is my list. I am wearing everything you see in this photo!

  • Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Skin Foundation Warm 8
  • Hourglass veil retouch liquid in sand
  • Rare Beauty’s full range of products: Brow Harmony Precision Pencil, Perfect Strokes Liner in True Brown, Perfect Strokes Matte Liquid Liner, Black Mascara
  • Supergoop Shimmershade Cream Eyeshadow Sunset
  • NARS Deep Throat and Luster Blush (I mix them together)
  • laura mercier loose powder

This visit was better than the previous one as there was a mix of different age groups.

Perhaps it’s because the savings event brings people out of the tree? I don’t know. While there were the usual few kids who swooned over Drunk Elephant (I mean, you could argue about the irresponsibility of beauty brands marketing to kids, but alas, I’ll save you from that rant today ),I know that. Several people representing various groups also participated. It was refreshing.

So, Sephora, if you’re listening, please…

It was fun chatting with different women and men about the products they love. Do whatever you can to make everyone feel welcome. Then just do a little bit.

Also, invest in your employees on the sales floor. They have the power to make someone feel really good, and we generally need more of that.

Last but not least…

This is what I got in the end!

Karen
