“That’s what I bought.” Yes, this polish is exactly what I bought 13 years ago According to the whole post I did this month, I posted the swatches then, but it was my first week of beauty blogging and I didn’t know any better, so I literally took the photos in the dark. Back then, photography was somewhat secondary and having a beauty blog was more like a diary. Re-reading both posts makes me smile and feel very nostalgic about life. I’m still in my late 20s, and when it comes to what I’m talking about, my preference is the world of beauty. You can talk about literally anything in a blog post: what you bought, what you wore, what you ate. Now that we can share our lives on IG Stories and TikTok, this slow, sedentary style is no more.
In addition to posting better photos of this purple beauty, can you see I’ve lost the sense of wonder that I had when I first started blogging? I think back to that first Christmas in my first apartment where I came up with the blog name “Cosmetic Proof” and I’m pretty sure I bought all the Revlon lip butters and put them on the Christmas tree. I also started my blog in October, which is the best month for beauty. October always brings us some great Halloween collections.
I know the Fantasy Makers collection still exists, but from what I’ve seen, the colors aren’t quite the same and drugstore cosmetics are a little more expensive than they used to be. I can’t believe there are foundations over $20 at the drugstore these days. I still love the cap of this nail polish. Because it’s nice and flat and it makes controlling the brush so much easier. I have two coats on and love the subtle purple glow!
I hope everyone had a fun Thanksgiving weekend with their loved ones or just relaxed and had a good holiday.
