My review of NARS Powermat High Intensity Lip Pencil

The original NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil was a real hit when it was released back in the day. I remember being so excited when 10 new colors were released in 2017.

The new NARS Powermatte High Intensity Lip Pencil is an instant win for me because I already love the velvet mattes, this formula is even longer lasting, and I love the color-matched packaging.

This formula features a technology called Power Pigment Technology, which blends pure pigments with emollient oils and color-locking ingredients. Also free of parabens, formaldehyde, formaldehyde-releasing agents, phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, sulfates SLS and SLES, triclocarban, triclosan, and 1 percent synthetic fragrance. I believe the original Velvet Matte Lip Pencil is discontinued. Therefore, the currently available shades will eventually be sold out or no longer available.

I love the range of shades in this debut collection of NARS Powermatte High Intensity Lip Pencils. Dolce Vita is one of my favorite NARS lip shades in her afterglow she’s obsessed with balm formats so I’d love to see Dolce Vita in there. I’m so glad I did it. See a sample here. I’m sure this shade will sell out in the new Powermatte formula, so be sure to grab it while you still can. Other shades that seem to be selling quickly are American Woman and Walkyrie.

I know the old Velvet Mattes have some favorite shades that didn’t make the cut, but I think they’ll add new shades to this collection in the future.

These pencils are great because they can be sharpened, and the pencil format allows you to draw lines, define, and fill in color all in one. The texture is beautifully smooth and creamy and the finish is a soft matte that feels supple on the lips yet lasts very well.
