My spring lip test continues with a look at Hourglass Cosmetics’ latest launches.they launched a new one unlocked soft matte lipstick ($38 each), Lip liner shape and engraving ($29 each) and 4 new shades Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balm ($36).I carried these from sephora But they are also available at hourglass, nordstrom, blue mercury, neiman marcus and all Hourglass retailers.

New Hourglass Unlocked Soft Matte Lipstick Review

of unlocked soft matte lipstick A full coverage soft matte lipstick. These are highly opaque for full coverage, and Hourglass says they’re infused with a primer for smooth application. It certainly applied smoothly, but there was a slight tugging sensation and my lips looked dry. Sure, matte finishes look drying, but this one felt like it sucked all the moisture out of my lips and felt a bit harsh.

Most of the colors I tried were very warm. Since it has a matte finish, it looked a little muted/washed out to me, but that might be because of the color I chose. Looks beautiful on your hand. On my darkly pigmented lips, I didn’t like any of these shades very much. Poppy is cute and perfect for the kind of shades I wear, but it actually emphasizes the line of my lips and makes them look very dry.

I think it’s long-lasting, but I couldn’t leave it on long enough to see how long it lasted because my lips felt dry and uncomfortable.

  • Magnolia is a pale, warm nude pink.
  • Tulips are a cool pink color
  • Tiger lily is burnt orange
  • Peony is a warm brown beige
  • Foxglove is a very warm berry
  • Poppy is a calm coral (it is not pictured above because the entire tube broke when I dropped it)

Lip liner shape and engraving

There are 7 new works Lip liner shape and engraving. As a neutral lip lover, I chose the four brightest colors. The formula is very long-lasting. The application process is relatively smooth. The shade is very warm and if you already have a lot of neutral colors, I’m not sure if the color isn’t unique enough to justify it.

  • Shade 1 Expose doesn’t show up on my lips, but lately I feel like most of the new bright neutral pencils don’t show up on my lips
  • Shade 2 Flaunt is a warm pink rose beige
  • Shade 3 Tempt is a deep brown-pink
  • Shade 4 Undercover is a dark terracotta brown rose

Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balm

Finally, let’s take a look at the new shades of Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balm. I love this formula, but it can melt a bit in the tube during the hot summer months. It’s soft, shiny, moisturizing, and has a slight cooling sensation. Hourglass has added two shades from its Holiday 2024 duo set. I’m excited that they are permanent. These are very gentle so the staying power isn’t very long, but this is a formula that I don’t mind reapplying over and over again. FYI, the price is quite high for what you get. Many people have told me that it’s not worth it for you because you use it every day, reapply it and it wears out in a few weeks. I agree, but I like it enough to splurge on it. New shades include:

  • Crave – warm pink
  • Rouse – Plum Brown
  • Reveal – bluish pink (cool version of Crave)
  • I hope it’s a beautiful coral color

I looked at it side by side with other Phantom Glossy Balms that I own.

Overall, matte lipsticks are something I miss. I think there are better matte lip formulas from brands like Pat McGrath, Lisa Eldridge, Charlotte Tilbury, and Armani, to name a few. That being said, I don’t usually like matte lips and I don’t wear them either. I’ve seen a lot of positive reviews about this, but I might be the only one who doesn’t like this.

Lip liner isn’t bad. The color isn’t very intense, but the formula is long-lasting, so if you don’t have many lip pencils, I think this would be a neutral staple.

I absolutely love the new shades of Phantom Glossy Balm. It looks fresh and beautiful, and I think it’s perfect all year round. I can’t wait for the warmer months.

Currently available at sephora, hourglass, nordstrom, blue mercury, neiman marcus and all Hourglass retailers.

That concludes the Hourglass lip launch review. If you have tried these, please let me know what you think.
