CDU: Can you give us some background information about the company and your experience in the beauty/personal care products industry?
Michael Jurgelewicz (MJ): Designs for Health began as a small clinical and educational services company in 1989 with deep roots in nutrition and natural medicine and big ambitions to revolutionize the nutritional supplement industry. More than 30 years later, the company is pioneering new approaches to nutritional science and transforming health care.
Designs for Health is at the forefront of the natural and integrative medicine movement with a diverse portfolio of more than 300 nutritional products. Designs for Health has offered several products in the personal care and beauty products care industry for many years and plans to expand further into this category in the coming year.
CDU: Can you describe the process of conceptualizing, developing, testing, and launching a new product?
MJ: There are several factors to consider when creating a toothpaste, including the functionality of the ingredients and their proportions, stability, color, and flavor. Designs for Health offers his PerioBiotic Silver toothpaste in both lemon and spearmint.
Getting the concentration right is important, as setting the percentage a little too high can lead to a polarizing experience. Additionally, it is essential to reach therapeutic levels of active ingredients without negatively impacting taste.
CDU: How will this new product revolutionize the oral care products industry?
MJ: PerioBiotic Silver is more than just a natural, fluoride-free, great-tasting toothpaste. PerioBiotic Silver features refined silver, Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), grape seed extract, and dental lac. MJ: Designs for Health always strives to make our products the best they can be, but that comes with challenges. MJ: Yes, Designs for Health recently launched two additional products in the oral health category: Periommune and PerioPull. Periommune is a flavorful, easy-to-dissolve lozenge featuring heat-attenuated probiotic strains. Lactobacillus plantarum(as Immuno-LP20) and Wellmune, proprietary baker’s yeast, beta-glucan budding yeasthas immune-supporting properties.
