Best Techniques for Smoothing and Removing Glitter *Updated 8/11/2022*

Noodles manicures are always all about glitter. We all love glitter, but removing it can be a hassle. Oh, and it’s also been known to eat top coats that leave texture on the nails after drying. If you are particularly sensitive to the feel of the polish, apply a thicker topcoat or apply a second thin topcoat.

Instead of applying two thick top coats, several indie brands are launching products to be used after the final polish coat and before the top coat. These are generally thick and “fill in” the gaps left by the glitter. Here are some products I use and recommend (in no particular order).

3. Smooth From painted phalange (dries to a matte finish unlike others)

6. Esmaltes da Kelly’s Smooth and Shine Duo (some months available in Polish pickups)

It also uses a peel-off base coat for easy removal.It is recommended UNT ready for takeoff, Hit the Bottle Keepin’ It Peelor black dahlia lacquer Because they all work great (I’m not affiliated with any site or brand…I’m just sharing the love). Hit the Bottle does come off sometimes during the day, so UNT works better for my body chemistry. Lately he seems to be having trouble finding UNT. Holotacos One if you really need one. I understand the desire to make the polish last a little longer. Noodles Manicure 10 Years (3 coats)

First, we have the decade from which all the names are derived. It is a soft blue-based jelly with red/gold/green shift shimmers, holo flakes, fuchsia metallic glitter, silver/lavender/pink holographic glitter, and pink/purple iridescent glitter. This is basically full of bright pops of glitter with fuchsia glitter hitting the face. I wasn’t sure if this was a topper or not, but I just applied 3 thin coats and it was perfect. Definitely my favorite of the trio. It dries more textured, so I recommend a glitter smoothing top coat if you have one.

Then there’s Anything is Popsicle. This is a clear base glitter topper with purple/red/pink/blue shift flakes, gold/silver holographic glitter, and purple/pink/periwinkle matte hexagon glitter in various sizes. I hope it works well in combination with the China Glaze polish. I hadn’t worn a lime color in a long time and needed to bust this one up. I have found that dabbing strokes work best for applying this. When dry, it leaves a glittery texture.

Noodles Manicure Thank You A Melon (3 coats)

Last but definitely not least, I would like to introduce you to another of my favorite polishes, Thanks a Melon. Coral Clerie base with gold/copper/green shifting shimmers, gold holographic glitter, and different shades of pink glitter. This will sparkle with practically any gold. I think this will be my next pedicure color. Two or three coats are all you need, depending on your application. It was 3 because I have many thin coats. Again, this dries with the texture, so apply at least two coats of top coat.
