Purple and Blue Liner, and a Handy Makeup Tip for Hooded Lids

Blue And Purple Liner 3 Final.jpg

Have you ever suddenly wanted to wear a colorful liner? Then you’ll completely understand. Yesterday I picked up a bright blue (Urban Decay Chaos) and a shimmery purple (UD Vice). He layered some of the shimmery shades from the palette on top of that with a pop of blue on his upper lash line, then blended some purple into his lower lash liner.

It turned out to be more summer-like than I expected!

Hmm, I think if I went for a darker navy, it would have a more autumnal feel. I think this is what happens if your current makeup philosophy is “just give it a go and see where it takes you.” Hahaha!

Oh, so this look reminded me of a handy tip to keep in your back pocket for those days when the liner gets too thick for the lid space. By the way, this happens to me all the time, especially now that my hooded part is more noticeable than it was 10 years ago.

Anyway, if you notice while applying makeup that your liner is too thick, start by buffing the edges of the line as much as possible.

Then, using a flat brush or your fingertips, layer your favorite shimmery shadow on top, being careful to leave just a little bit of liner peeking through.

The combination of blurred liner and shimmery shadows can help make the liner look thinner while making the eyelid space look a little wider. Please try it sometime and let me know how it goes. 🙂

Speaking of eyeliner,

I’ve been using Hourglass’ dark brown and bronze twist-up liners for the past few months. I like the comfortable formula, but there aren’t many colors to choose from.

If your lash and water lines are as moody and sensitive as mine, I’d love to hear what liner you like. We need new blues and purples!
