I’ve been wanting to review these masks for a while now after seeing this. of fungis Despite the attractive packaging featured on Instagram, masks were a bit difficult to find for Canadians. A few years ago, I saw this sheet mask in my Face Tree subscription and was about to buy it on Amazon when I finally realized why this sheet mask was so popular!
What’s special about this mask? A cream mask with centella asiatica and mushroom extracts to strengthen the skin barrier, repair and soothe the skin. Among the many plant-based ingredients, it also includes shea butter, horse chestnut extract (to minimize redness), aloe vera, and licorice extract. The mask is aimed at all skin types, including sensitive skin, and claims to be made with highly adhesive microfiber sheets to provide an “ampoule-like effect”. I interpret this to mean that my skin becomes very bright and glowing with hydration, and it turns out to be true.
Mask overview:
price: 3-4 USD
function: Repairs, soothes and strengthens the skin barrier
scent: lavender
Essence type: cream
interval: half an hour
thickness: Moderate
Mask fit: It wasn’t the best as the mask had multiple deeper cuts so there were a lot of wrinkles that I had a hard time smoothing out.
Stickiness: Medium – After an hour, my husband touched my face and commented that I was “sticky.” It took about 3 hours to get better, so the pillowcase was no longer sticky, but it took a while!
Hydration: very good!
Other notes: Not applicable
What’s special about this mask? This mask is vegan-friendly and aims to help control skin blemishes and oil. Looking at the ingredient list, like the previous mask, it is mainly made from plants, but it also contains interesting ingredients such as polyglutamic acid, which has a whitening effect, and squalane, which has a moisturizing effect. Oddly enough, the tea tree oil is at the bottom.
Mask overview:
price: 3-4 USD
function: Minimizes redness, improves age spots and skin sensitivity.
scent: tea tree oil
Essence type: Slightly viscous, cloudy
interval: 25 minutes
thickness: Moderate
Mask fit: It was similar to the centella asiatica mask in that it had deep cuts and many wrinkles and could not be stretched, but the mask held and did not lift or move.
Stickiness: Moderate
Hydration: Very intense. No additional moisturizer required.
Other notes: A little pilling will occur.
Final verdict: I wanted to like this mask even more. I love the ingredients in these masks, so I’m tempted to buy them again, but I didn’t like the creases in the masks. It’s also intensely moisturizing, sticky enough for at least a few hours, and the pilling of the essence prevents you from layering anything on top (though I don’t think you’ll feel the need to!). I’m not going to completely ignore these masks, but I feel like I could end up with better-feeling skin if they didn’t add those little “quirks” that I experienced.
