If you’ve been following me on Instagram for the past couple of months, you might know that I’ve just started a side project as Chief Brand Officer for a British skincare brand. peregrym! You know I would never tie my name to one brand if it wasn’t worth my time, so this is something really scary and new and cool to me. We’re a small team, and I’ve been managing social media accounts, taking photos, and working with business partners in all my free time to launch this brand here in Canada. I’m still very new to logistics and this is something completely new to me, so I’m learning and googling as much as I can.
Before we dive into the brand’s first official product review, let’s talk a little bit about Pelegrims. Based in Kent, England, and founded by Alex Verrier and Jérôme Moisin, what makes this brand so special and immediately noticeable is the fact that all its products are made with the infusion of grapes harvested from the by-products of winemaking. It was the fact that things were being used. This means that after Peregrym has pressed the grapes, the leftovers, including leaves and vines, are used to blend and make products. We also harvest our grape extracts from a specific vineyard, Westwell Wines, so when it comes to specific products, we can also zero in on the specific parcels where the grapes were produced. Let’s talk about origins! All products are made in small batches, formulated and packaged in Peregrymus’ own laboratory, and this is something I really appreciate about this brand. Think farm-to-table, vineyard-to-skin.

This is a blend of grapeseed oil, marine algae, English Pinot Noir extract, grape skin powder (pinkish in color) and other botanical oils to soften the skin and increase the skin’s natural collagen production. It has a function.
The benefits of grapes, resveratrol, and polyphenols are known to most of us, thanks to brands like Caudalie and Vinter’s Daughter that paved the way. Resveratrol has been shown to increase collagen synthesis, promote skin regeneration, and protect skin from UV rays.

The first thing I want to mention is the scent. Like many other plant-based products, the scent is very unique. It’s a blend of fresh air, wild rose, and sea salt, which I find to be a very soothing scent. It’s so soft that it’s perfect for candles!
I usually use this balm in place of my regular moisturizer, but if I need extra hydration, I can layer this on top of my regular moisturizer or facial oil if desired.

All products are still packaged by hand so you can see exactly which harvest the grape extract came from and what batch number this is. This is really something you only see in artisanal skin care, but even if it’s handwritten, the formulations and packaging lean toward luxury, and it can be difficult to balance artisanal and luxury. But this is not the case with Peregrym.
Final verdict: This was one of the first Peregrym products I tried and I’m glad it was so different from other facial balms I’ve tried. The product takes a little while to warm up, but it’s not sticky and my skin feels moisturized after a few minutes, but without the usual oiliness or shine I sometimes experience with other balms. This is the part that makes this balm truly unique.
