Tabs Cat Easter Egg Hunt 2017 6.jpg

Hello Friend. How about jumping? I hope you have a happy Easter! 🐰

Today I couldn’t help but think back to the fun Easter I had with Tab. That cat made everything feel like an event. Part of it was in his personality. He was a boy cat and had a confident swagger. He remained calm around large groups of children, cars, and other loud noises. He would just casually lick his paws, blink slowly, roll over, and show his butt. Little things didn’t faze him.

He also loves attention and this blog and where I was in life got him a lot of attention. We worked hard on the blog together. He was my employer (hehe!) and my creative muse. For years, I’ve been blogging for hours every day, and Tabs has helped me through it all. He loved all the photo shoots, or at least it seemed like he did, even when I was intimidating him. “Come here, Tab! Now, photo time. Here you go. Look at me, look at the camera! Good girl!” And I was snapping with the camera. He just meowed, wandered around, and showed off his gorgeous ass again.

For holidays like Easter, I would dress him up in, well, custom felt cat collars and other fancy costumes and take him to photo shoots. As is often the case with blogging and social media, a good photo has always required a lot of photos. Most of the time the pictures look good, but you know how it goes. It probably took him 12 shots to get the perfect photo. That’s it.

But no kidding, every time I take his wardrobe or wardrobe out of the closet, Tubbs comes running to wherever he is in the house. I heard a thud from somewhere upstairs (the sound of him jumping off the counter or bed onto the floor). Doop, doop, doop From your feet on the floor and under the stairs. He knew that meant we wanted him to 1) go for walks outside and 2) spend time together. There are two things he loved.

The personalities we conveyed in our blogs were his and mine. Of course, we added something to the mix. That said, cats usually don’t manage spring to-do lists. 🙂 But I don’t think that could be further from the truth.

Tubbs was larger than life to me and our family. He was a celebrity to us and did everything he could. He loved attention. He may not have been “posing for the camera” per se, but he was posing for me.

Connor still remembers him and talks about him when he sees his picture. She knows he is her first animal friend and I like that they have lots of pictures together thanks to the blog. Hundreds, if not thousands, of photos from the four years they spent together before Tubbs passed away.

Although Rosie is now our cat and part of our special feline family, I miss the theatricality of life with Tub. He was the perfect cat at the perfect time in my life and I will always cherish that.

Thank you, buddy. Happy Easter, Tab. I will always love you and miss you.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen
