There’s a new girl in town…her name is Marnie Marie.

Marnie for short.

As I mentioned a few days ago, we welcomed a new boarder, or rather, a new Aussie shepherd. This concludes our first week together.

oh! — But before I forget, here’s a really great story. A few days after we adopted her, Marnie, we took her in for her first checkup. Just as she pulled out of the driveway in front of the vet, she saw a familiar face on the sidewalk.

He was Marnie’s older brother!

Yes, one of the Marine Animal Welfare Society team members was out for a walk with Marnie’s younger brother, Rusty, who was still at the shelter. We parked the car and they decided to say hello. They recognized each other immediately.

Marnie is still getting used to her new home, but she remains a doll.

Rosie and I slowly introduce ourselves. Rosie temporarily moves into the master bedroom upstairs from her, and Marnie lives downstairs from her. We did that for most of the week and everything went well. There was no barking or hissing yet and it worked, so we installed a baby gate.

Praise them both generously for a few minutes at a time so they can see each other through the gate, sniff each other, and if everything goes well, give them lots of praise and treats. gave.

So far, so good!

We’re taking it slow because Marnie also comes from a home that had cats, but Marnie and her brother were drawn back to the shelter for reasons we only partially know. . All we know is that it wasn’t a good situation for them, so they were returned.

Add to these unknowns the fact that Rosie is a mature woman and doesn’t take crap from anyone…so we’re taking a slow approach with our introductions.

I hope everyone can get along.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen
