Let’s be honest: beards can look unkempt, dirty, and lazy if they’re not properly cared for. That’s where beard oil comes in.

Although this DIY is aimed at beards, it’s definitely versatile. This recipe may be one of his Swiss Army Knife products. Plus, it smells so amazing that you’ll want to find ways to use it on more than just your beard. Keep reading to find out how.

Why use beard oil?

The purpose of beard oil is to condition and condition the beard hair. It can also relieve that dreaded beard itch.

Beard oil also nourishes the skin beneath the skin and helps prevent beard dandruff and other skin problems.

Beard oil adds shine to your beard and gives your hair a healthy, clean look.

The skin under the beard is often ignored, but it should be taken care of. Even if the day comes when you lose your beard, it will be sad to see the forgotten and ugly skin underneath. Is it cheaper to make my own beard oil?

Depending on where you source your ingredients, making your own beard oil is much cheaper than buying it already made. From my research, over-the-counter beard oils cost between $10 and $30.

I like to get oil from mountain rose herb I also use Amazon when I can find pure organic oils. It will cost you about $90 total (including shipping) to purchase all the ingredients listed for this recipe. Roughly, these ingredients yield 8 bottles of beard oil, which comes out to about $11 per bottle. I have quite a bit of essential oils and vitamin E oil leftover for future DIYs.

If you want to make your own beard oil a little cheaper, skip the organic jojoba and organic apricot kernels and you’ll save about $12, making each bottler less than $10. We don’t recommend purchasing non-organic oils, but it’s better than avoiding DIY due to cost.

Why Make DIY Beard Oil?

You probably know that most women’s beauty products contain harmful chemicals and fillers, but you can’t afford to overlook the questionable ingredients that men use as well.

This DIY beard oil is very simple yet highly effective. Don’t go to the store and buy men’s skin/beard oils that are expensive and likely contain a lot of fillers like water, fragrances, preservatives, and inflammatory oils that don’t do anything for your skin. Please. This DIY is a pure and powerful concoction meant to benefit your hair and skin. What’s more, it’s easy, just add oil to the bottle.

One thing I kept in mind when thinking about this recipe is that men probably won’t be fooled by something that’s too oily and doesn’t absorb quickly. That’s why we chose dry oils that are quickly absorbed and nourish your hair and skin. We also chose an essential oil with a stronger woody scent that won’t confuse men. I don’t know if I’ve ever met a man who likes to smell geraniums, but I don’t know…

Speaking of smelling good, check out my aftershave recipe. It takes a few seconds to make and is essential after a close shave.

Which natural oil is best for beards?

There are many carrier oils that are suitable for beard oil. Sweet almond oil, argan oil, avocado oil, grapeseed oil, olive oil, and fractionated coconut oil are just a few that can help.

This recipe creates a pharmacy-worthy beard oil. We have selected essential oils that are high in essential fatty acids, highly nutritious, and a special blend of essential oils that give the oil a calming and masculine scent.

There are several reasons why I chose jojoba oil as my base oil. Jojoba oil is known as the closest botanical oil to our skin’s natural oils. The skin responds well to it and is usually absorbed quickly. It’s also non-comedogenic so it won’t clog your pores. Jojoba is technically a liquid wax, providing extra nourishment without the stickiness. This is why I use it as a key ingredient in hair pomade recipes.

We added apricot kernel oil because it’s lightweight, absorbs quickly, and is a great option for conditioning beard hair.

Vitamin E oil provides additional nutritional value and is also rich in anti-aging antioxidants. It also helps extend the shelf life of your beard oil. However, it is expensive and difficult to obtain, so this recipe uses it as an optional ingredient.

pro tips: When it comes to smoothing, trimming, and conditioning beard hair, a single carrier oil can do the trick. Minimalists and people trying to save money Get a bottle of jojoba oil Let’s put an end to that!

Best essential oils for DIY beard oil:

Thanks to an essential oil blend of rosemary, balsam fir, and bergamot, this beard oil has a woody scent with herbal and citrus notes. It’s cold and feels very refreshing on the skin.

I added rosemary because it has a very organic, herbal scent and is a great oil that promotes blood flow and, as a result, beard growth.

Also, balsam fir essential oil (Scotch pine and Douglas fir are also effective) are powerful anti-aging antioxidants.

I added it because I love bergamot. It has an earl gray tea scent. It has a light scent with a hint of citrus, lightening the balsam fir/pine oil musk.

Other masculine essential oils that are perfect for masculine recipes include eucalyptus, lavender, lemon, patchouli, sage, sandalwood, cedarwood, and vanilla. Cedarwood and patchouli in particular have musky notes that pair well with lighter notes of lavender, lemon and tea tree.

Frankincense, lavender, and tea tree are very gentle oils for those with sensitive skin. If you’re concerned, you can reduce the amount of beard oil you drip or omit the essential oil altogether.

I like to get essential oils from phytotherapy or mountain rose herb.

Essential oils for beard growth and thickness:

Rosemary and cedarwood are excellent essential oils that support hair growth. In fact, both have been shown in some studies to promote hair growth. So much so that I include it in my eyebrow serum recipe that uses steroids.

this research This shows how effective cedarwood, rosemary, lavender and thyme essential oils are in regenerating hair from alopecia.

According to this study, Rosemary oil has similar effects to the common hair growth treatment, minoxidil, but with fewer scalp itching as a side effect.

Tea tree is helpful as well as it helps remove dandruff and strengthens hair follicles.

Castor oil and black cumin seed oil are carrier oils that help thicken hair.

Does beard oil require preservatives?

Since it does not use any water-based ingredients, there is no need to worry about the beard oil deteriorating. So if you want to make a bigger batch, you can totally do that.

The shelf life of this beard oil is approximately 6 months. Probably more.

DIY Beard Oil is a multipurpose personal care product

As I mentioned earlier, this is a multi-purpose oil for those who don’t grow a beard. Ideal for scalp treatment. Again, it promotes hair growth, nourishes the scalp and improves dandruff. Additionally, it stimulates and energizes the hair follicles.

You can and should use this all over your face. This is the perfect face oil for dry, rough skin.

You can also use it as a leave-in hair conditioning treatment by massaging 3-5 drops into your hair.

You see, since I re-entered the single world, I actually don’t have much interest in “real” men. I think I will continue to use the notebook BF Noah. I’m sure he’ll love my beard oil. It’s totally a joke, in a way. Actually not at all. Update: I’m no longer single, but I found a guy with a beard who loves this beard oil!

Ladies, this is a great beard oil recipe and would make a perfect gift. And if your man doesn’t have a beard, we guarantee you that he can use face oil on a daily basis.

xx, Jenny
