I live in a season where there’s always so much going on, so I’m always looking for ways to make life a little easier. Maybe you’ll find something useful here too! At least that’s my hope. 🙂

1. Arrive 10 minutes early

Getting to where you need to go at least 10 minutes early will save you a lot of mental stress. I’m not a person who does this naturally so I have to do everything I can to get out the door in time, but making an effort to arrive at least 10 minutes early reduces the stress of everything. is significantly reduced. Getting there by car, getting lost along the way, finding parking, replacing your comfortable tennis shoes with event shoes (am I the only one who does this, hmm?), and reapplying your lipstick. There’s so much to do, to wrestle with Connor’s stuff, seriously. . lol!

But note to yourself, giving yourself a cushion 20 minutes early will give you even better results. You have to keep it up, Karen.

Regardless, I always feel rushed and stressed when I arrive too close to an event or start time. Having extra time would really make my life easier.

2. Make time for a little boredom

Or, create some time where you intentionally don’t get stimulated.

This seems to be especially effective when you’re doing something that involves repetitive movements, like walking, riding a bike, or washing dishes.

Riding a stationary bike or walking outside without music or audiobooks can seem really boring. But there’s something about quiet time that allows your mind to wander slowly.

That extra space also really helps lift the mental weight I’m feeling.

When you are in this state, it is easier to solve problems and think creatively. Eating it when you’re feeling a little tired will make your mind and body feel better.

3. Schedule extra errands when you have the most energy.

If you know you have to run an extra errand, make a mental note to do it at the beginning of the week.

For example, Connor’s school has ice cream day every week, and I’m the parent volunteer who picks up treats for the kids.

I intentionally try to do this on Monday afternoons when I get off work. Because then you’ll have more energy to tackle additional tasks.

If you leave it later in the week, the lift will be too heavy.

4. Let go of the idea that you have to do everything exactly the way you want it to, every time.

The idea that doing a little bit every now and then is enough has been a game changer for me.

As a recovering perfectionist, this is sometimes very difficult for me, but accepting it has helped me a lot.

5. Order takeout even if you think you have the energy to cook.

Actually, I want to make something to eat at home, but preparing meals, cooking, washing the dishes, cleaning the kitchen, and preparing lunch for the next day takes away my energy, and I end up feeling exhausted by Wednesday or Thursday. Masu. . Ordering takeout once or twice a week can save you a lot of energy, giving you extra time to rest and spend time with your family.

If you can’t bear takeout, opt for ready-made options that can be cooked in the microwave or oven, such as frozen pizza.

Karen
