It felt so surreal to be invited to the Met Gala. I’ve always been a very special person, so being able to participate in an event like this where the fashion is amazing was a dream come true. I think you should be a little more modest about that, but calm down. But I have literally never been so excited about anything.
The “Sleeping Beauty” costume display theme and the “Garden of Time” dress code made it the perfect event for me, as well as us, to attend our first Met Gala. hill house, my fashion and home brand. As soon as I found out I was actually invited, I decided to make a dress like this: Sir Frederick Leighton’s 1895 painting fiery june. It was her mother who introduced her to me. She was fascinated by the painting because she thought the woman in it looked like me. She literally pointed to her replica and said, “This is my Nelly.” My fondest memory is hearing her say those words when I was a little human.
The paintings themselves also have an interesting history. It was basically lost from the art world for a very long time. It was sitting in an antique shop, and Andrew Lloyd Webber, the real Andrew Lloyd Webber, almost bought it for an exorbitant amount of money, like $10, but his mother said, “It’s no longer Victorian.” I want you to stop drawing.” The painting remained in Puerto Rico forever because former Puerto Rican Governor Luis A. Ferre loved it and sold it at auction for an incredibly low price. This renaissance has taken place over the past few decades and it is back in fashion again. This work appeared in his 2008 at Tate Modern in London. I grew up in London, so I saw it there. It’s a beautiful and wonderful painting just to look at.
The woman in the painting is completely naked except for some gauze, so the first thing that came to mind about the Metropolitan Museum of Art dress was the naked, wet look. Then I remembered who I was, so I incorporated color inspiration and some of the Greek elements instead. Michael, Hill House’s dressmaker, took a pattern of the dress and draped it a million different times to see how the fabric would overlap the body. For me, creating a waist moment was very important. One of the reasons I fell in love with nap dresses is because smocking makes them feel comfortable even if they’re a little cinched in at the waist. Personally, I always feel better when I have a moment where I move my hips. Then I wanted to tie the flowers together somehow. I really wanted to incorporate fresh flowers, especially after reading about the impermanence of the exhibit. Fresh flowers were sewn by hand, including inside the van leading up to the stairs. Met. I really liked the idea of the dress being like this for one night, since the fresh flowers would die by the end of the night. When I got dressed last night, the flowers were stepped on a little, some petals were missing, and the color of the flowers stained the dress very nicely. Really, things will never be the same again.
Leading up to the MET, I definitely went overboard to prep my skin.I started with Dr. Dennis GrossI’ve been seeing him since I was 22 years old. I have Botox on my forehead and eyes with him and he always has a very light touch and knows exactly what I need. As usual, I came to him 3-4 weeks before the gala to do some minor touch-ups.I’m watching too Leah Trojansky At Dr. Gross. We perform laser and chemical peels. Last summer I had acne for the first time, and I didn’t have it when I was a teenager, and she saved me. She always says she should try microneedling, so she tried it a few months ago at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I think she had a very red face for maybe 3-4 days, but I noticed a noticeable difference in the size of her pores, the overall health of her skin, and the tone. She also had me give Laser Genesis, which I had received from her unrelated to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a bit of a peel on Friday.
On a Sunday afternoon, I met Elizabeth Grace Hand, the founder of. Starre Studio. First of all, it was the most relaxing facial I have ever received. The process took him two hours and included a CO2 mask, microcurrent, and Limer laser, but no extractions or other harsh procedures. I can’t recommend it more before a big event.
For my beauty, I wanted to incorporate some Pre-Raphaelite fundamentals, like rosy cheeks and fair skin, which is not difficult for me. [Laughs] Honestly, it didn’t look much different from my usual makeup. I wore less eyeliner than usual, but I still wanted to feel like myself, so I had my signature winged eyeliner. Overall, I really wanted to feel fresh and dewy, like I just came out of the riverbank. I used 3 products on my lips. rouge coco flash in Fervoor, rouge allure ink in Amruand le crayon lip pencil in rose poudre. Instead of my usual black liner, I used a soft warm brown with little golden flecks. Stylo Ombre et Contour Eyeshadow Liner in electric brown and nude eclat.
Rosibel del Jesús I conditioned my hair using a combination of R+Co products and T3 tools. I usually wear my hair in natural waves, but I wanted to add some height to the top of my head for a sleek, effortless look. I also had flowers tied in my hair by hand. In fact, those flowers and the flowers on my dress were my perfume that night. There were hundreds of them so you could really smell them.
Ami Vega I got my nails done that morning. I’ve worked with her before on Hill House and she’s a great person. She used Base 02 and 03. Cocoist x Nail Thoughts collaboration. I never wear nail polish on my hands and I always keep them very short. People are always surprised because everything I do is high maintenance, but I have a hard time typing with my fingernails, and it’s hard with kids. But I love the excuse of having long nails. I feel like a new personality is born when I wear them.
Performed lymph drainage Rikari Studio Three times last week, someone who usually goes to the Metropolitan Museum of Art told me to go. I feel very healthy. I have 3 children and my girlfriend has 3 children, so I had a lot of bloated stomach, but I definitely felt like my bloated stomach was reduced.doing pilates at Forma It was also really helpful. It’s the hardest class I’ve ever taken, but it’s so good.
One of the coolest things I didn’t realize beforehand was that you get to spend time in the actual exhibits. I love museums so the call time was very quick which was a surprise. It was a huge highlight to be basically alone at the exhibition in the gown right after going through the red carpet. It didn’t hurt that Matt Damon was standing there watching it too.
