I took a small makeup bag with me on an overnight trip a few months ago, but I forgot to unpack it when I got back from the trip. I found it by complete fluke last week when I went looking for a sticky clothes roller in the top section of my wardrobe. And there was a makeup bag that looked like a relic from another era.
I resisted the urge to open it right away and see what was inside, and instead decided to shoot it on film and shoot a makeup video to kill two birds with one stone.It’s like a makeup version of Ready Steady Cook! Lo and behold, it’s all the usual suspects needed to create my signature “barely there” look, a look that’s slightly more refined, enhanced, and well-groomed than my normal face. It turned out to be. There are no dramatic changes.

The mascara is L’Oreal’s nostalgic telescopic mascara. I’ve never repurchased makeup products so many times, at least for me. Lengthen and separate fair and thin eyelashes to make them look more beautiful. This is not a “stripper lash” mascara, nor is it really a “false eyelash effect” unless you tend to choose something very subtle (I haven’t worn it in years), but for me makes a huge difference. And the best part is that a) it adheres well and b) it’s easy to remove with regular cleansing balms or creams. No special remover required.
Completed the look. If you can call me that (I need to change the name…) polishing routine) Apply a little lip liner (rare beauty*) and lip oil balm ipsum.
Part of the fun of having short hair is tossing it up randomly (the messier, the better), and you’re done with a low-key doll-up. It gives a slight lift to the eyes, restores the contour of the lips, and gives a glossy, sheer skin base that looks like really good skin. It looks exactly like my bag.
