Over-styling your hair can be just as bad for your hair as a hangover can be for your skin. Therefore, just like with your body, it is important to take care of your hair a little more carefully in winter and think about its health.

improve hair health

First of all, eat a healthy, balanced diet with plenty of seasonal fruits and vegetables, and drink plenty of water. Just like any other part of your body, the right combination of protein, iron, and other nutrients is essential for healthy hair. My book, Eat Beautiful, is full of easy-to-follow recipe ideas.

Helen Bond, nutritionist at Hurley Medical Group, says:

“Iron is especially important, so make sure you get enough in your diet. Eating red meat such as beef, lamb, venison, and other game can boost your iron levels. Vegetarian Sources These include beans, legumes, leafy green vegetables, and dried fruits. Also include foods rich in vitamin C (red peppers, citrus fruits, berries) to aid absorption from vegetarian sources.

“Protein is important, so eat two to three servings of high-quality protein foods each day, such as eggs, chicken, fish, lean meats, legumes, legumes, tofu, or take a protein powder supplement.” You may want to increase your intake of B vitamins, especially biotin, which is found in eggs, almonds, oats, onions, sweet potatoes, and walnuts.”

When it comes to additional hair care, there are also some nourishing treatments that can help hair recover from prolonged drying with a hair dryer or hair tongs. I love using a nourishing mask once a week to moisturize my hair and keep it soft and smooth. Also, avoid excessive dryness when you are not going to a special place and add a little hair oil from time to time throughout the night.

Session stylist Neil Moody says:

“Regular conditioning is important. It’s also important to leave it in so that it can penetrate into your hair. Just applying it and rinsing it off right away won’t work. Your hair won’t have time to draw in the ingredients it needs. It’s also important to leave it in so it can penetrate into your hair. Weekly treatments are also essential for damaged hair. Leave on for 20 minutes to allow the ingredients to properly penetrate the hair shaft again.”
